- Prepare the night before: pack lunch box with non-perishables, pack backpack (notebooks, homework, parent forms, binders, books, school supplies), and pick out clothes.
- Make a weekly/monthly family calendar: Review it each morning with child for expected activities and plan and place in a common area (i.e. refrigerator).
- Strategies for stressful times at school: Deep breathing, ask for a 1 minute quiet break, create a safe space to use when overwhelmed, utilize ZONES/ALERT programs, practice positive self-talk: “I can do this!” or “I can try my best”.
time: Before starting homework or after getting home from school, provide
time to de-stress or play.
